Remembering when Waylon would come to his parents home and pick and sing
Brings back many good memories
We were both kids, but Waylon was older than me
He was born on the 15th. and me on the 16th.
I guess that made us pretty close in tears
If we didn't talk about the difference in the years
Raised in Lubbock, Texas, hometown of Buddy Holly
Mac Davis, and a host of others from this area of West Texas
Such as Roy Orbison, The Crickets, a Sax player
By the name of Bobby Keys, just to mention a few
Who toured and recorded with the Beatles and The Rolling Stones
Gary bought his first car from Peggy Sue, the girl Buddy sang about
Being exposed to many genres of music he naturally tried to copy all the sounds
" They gave me my style, now I'm Standing in the aisle, playing my music for you "
Playing Country music, Blues, and old Rock and Roll, he developed a Unique Style of his own
He sat aside music for many years While raising a family
But the music would never leave him
Today all his time is devoted to his music
And he will soon share it with his soon to be released CD.
